Our members enjoy five of the best clay courts in Knoxville, as well as, two lighted deco turf hard courts. Our tennis season runs April through November, beginning with tennis & social events and ending with season-closing events for both juniors and adults. Our Tennis Program offers a wide range of leagues, clinics, and programs for men, women, juniors, and couples. Additionally, we have a Tennis Pro Shop on-site, which offers basic tennis supplies, stringing, and repairs.
Our Ladies’ Program consists of leagues, interclub play, clinics, round robins, and much more. Leagues are divided into two seasons: spring (April-May) and fall (September-October). Night Leagues are also offered. Every level of player is welcome to play in our leagues and is placed by our pro into a group according to their ability. Ladies’ Interclub is a team competition that is played June-September. Interclub allows our team to compete against other clubs and tennis facilities in the area. Also offered is USTA team competition, which is similar to Interclub but is played April-May. Each year, as all of our programs, our Ladies’ Program is very active.
Our Men’s Program has grown over the past few years and consists of leagues, and special events. Our men’s ladder is set up in early spring, and men are encouraged to play throughout the season. Men’s League is played every Thursday night, and it begins in May and runs through August. Men’s Interclub runs August through October and is set up for any member who wants to compete against other clubs in the Knoxville area.
Our Junior Programs are offered for children 4-18 and include after school clinics in the spring and fall, summer clinics, interclub, summer camps, tournaments, and tournament preparation activities.
Our goal in all clinics is to help each junior progress to different levels of the game technically, mentally, and physically. Our interclub begins in June and runs through July. Interclub is designed for juniors who are just starting to compete and have not yet acquired a state ranking. The Tournament Group at Fox Den is for the student who is planning to play high school and collegiate tennis. This program provides players with stroke production, video analysis, mental training, and strength and conditioning. Players also learn periodization training and goal setting and are encouraged to play in sanctioned tournaments. Many of our juniors have graduated from this program and have gone on to play tennis for colleges on scholarship all across the country.
Sundowners is offered June through August. It is intended to be strictly social and is designed for every level of player, including beginners. Sundowners’ tennis is usually played on Friday or Saturday nights. Special prizes are given out and dinner at Tackett’s follows for anyone who wants to socialize after play.
Pickleball is a fast-growing sport in the country and here at Fox Den as well! It combines the elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and can be played on our lighted hard courts. A pickleball paddle is smaller than a tennis racquet but larger than a ping-pong paddle. A pickleball is similar to a wiffleball but travels at 1/3 the speed of a tennis ball. Pickleball is the perfect way to introduce children to the game of tennis without being overwhelmed by the rules and guidelines. Many tennis players convert to the game of pickle ball as it requires less endurance than tennis.
