James Montgomery, Director of Racquet Sports & Fitness, Personal Trainer, Tennis Professional
As Director, James pulls from his extensive background in physical therapy, sport-specific fitness, and tennis coaching and instruction to develop the programming for Fox Den’s Racquet and Fitness departments. As a Certified Tennis Professional and Personal Trainer, James enjoys helping you set and reach your personal goals. He appreciates being a part of the everyday struggles and victories that bring your objectives closer. James has been playing tennis since 2006 and teaching/coaching since 2008. James obtained his master’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University, close to his hometown of London. James partners with clients of all ages and welcomes a diverse group of individuals to his programs. When not on the tennis court or in the gym, James enjoys training jiu jitsu, wrestling, disc golf, yoga, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
James plays with a Yonex Ezone 98 Tour strung with Polytour Rev 17g.
David Berens, Head Tennis Professional & Pickleball Coach
Dave comes to Fox Den Country Club as a USPTA Elite Tennis Professional and PPR Certified Pickleball Coach. Dave has been teaching racquet sports since 1998. He began his instructing career at Tyson Park and developed his teaching craft working with former ATP Touring Pro and Tour Coach, Steve Annacone, at Smoky Mountain Tennis Academy and CBRC Tennis Director, Rusty Morris. During his career, Dave has traveled the South working in amazing locations such as the tropical Islamorada Tennis club in the Florida Keys, Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton, Georgia where he was the assistant Tennis Coach for the University of West Georgia’s Lady Wolves, and the world-class Ritz Carlton, Key Biscayne, with tennis legend Cliff Drysdale.
Dave plays with a HEAD Radical MP with 16g HEAD Velocity MLT string. He wears HEAD Sprint Pro 3.0 shoes. He also plays with a HEAD Radical Tour GR Pickleball Paddle.
|Bradford Baker, Assistant Tennis Professional|
Brad has been playing tennis since 2005. He was one of the top doubles’ players in his home state of Kentucky and Regional Champion in 2012. He played 1 Seed at North Laurel High School and Alice Lloyd College. Brad has been teaching and coaching tennis for 10 years. His experience includes assistant coach for June Buchanan High School and Alice Lloyd women’s team. Brad has been stringing racquets since 2005.
Brad plays with a Yonex Vcore 95. His string of choice is Luxilon Adrenaline Rough.
Brad moved to Knoxville in 2021. When not out on the court, he enjoys disc golf and spending time with friends and family.
